Alliance Defense — a guide for newcomers
Русская версияThe event lasts 30 minutes. We usually run it at 13:00 Moscow time — the Militarist announces the exact time in alliance chat.
If this is your first time, read this to the end. It takes two minutes and it will save us the whole event.
First things first: it will be a mess, and that is fine
Your first run will be a mess anyway. That is expected and nothing to be upset about: it takes time to work out how the event runs, and it takes time to build up the troops and rallies we are still very short of.
The goal of the first run is not to "clear everything" — it is to understand how it works and to squeeze the most out of what we have.
What actually happens
When the event starts, circles (points) appear on the map — inside alliance territory and right next to it — and monsters come out of them.
The points are:
- 10 yellow ones — regular monsters;
- 1 red one — the boss.
After that the cycle is simple:
- Five minutes to coordinate — enough time to divide up the points and agree who goes where.
- Then we frantically smash the yellow ones.
- The red one (the boss) appears — we smash it.
- Repeat. There are up to 15 waves.
Honestly: with luck we will get through the first few waves. Reaching the end is a year or eighteen months away for us — and that is normal.
What to do BEFORE it starts
- Post a "+" in alliance chat. The Militarist has to know in advance who is actually playing — otherwise he cannot hand out the points. No "+", and you are not in the plan.
- Get your troops ready: every march and every rally you have. Not some of them, not "I'll keep one back just in case" — everything. The more marches and rallies the alliance has in total, the further we get.
How coordination works
Once the event starts, the Militarist gives out the coordinates of the circles and says who is responsible for which one.
What is needed from you:
- watch the alliance chat;
- find your point and remember it — not the one that is closer or prettier;
- stay quiet until the assignment is finished, do not clutter the chat;
- once the assignment is done, ask the Militarist in chat if you have questions — do not just sit there in silence.
The most important thing about rewards
This is a collective event. The prizes are the same for the entire alliance.
Which gives us the main rule: do not try to out-farm the player next to you. There is no personal race here — there is a shared result. Hit your own points, help each other where you can (!), and do not compete.
And the same thing explains a newcomer's most common disappointment. If you did not make it to a circle and somebody else already killed the monster — do not be upset, be glad: it means things are going well. The rewards are identical for everyone, and a monster killed by a fellow member is exactly your result too. Nobody "stole" anything from you.
How to hit: the mechanics
This is not what you are used to at the Monster Den. Read carefully:
- Points are taken with personal attacks, not with a rally.
- There is no gathering phase. Unfortunately you cannot group up into one march and go as a crowd — everyone marches on their own.
- March time is the same from anywhere — 30 seconds. No matter where you start from.
- You need troops, and you need all of them. Go in with troops and heroes, not empty-handed.
- You can send as many attacks to a single point as you like, so send several at once until you get a feel for the mechanics.
Do not jump anywhere, do not spend teleports and do not wreck your own positioning. I am repeating it because somebody does it every single time: no teleports.
So there is no reason at all to be afraid of sending them out — send everything and do not hold back.
Splitting up between the points
- The boss (the red one) is normally taken by the strongest player in the alliance. Everyone else works the yellow ones meanwhile.
- Yellow points get several players each, not one. The "one player per point, the others help out" scheme will not work for us: we are very small, and on your own you most likely will not push a point through.
- Help each other: if you see somebody stuck on a point, go and join them.
- If you cannot manage — ask for help in chat and always include the coordinates, so nobody has to go looking for you.
Do not mix it up
This is not Undead Scourge. There the logic is "reinforce the weak and hold" — here you do not need it. Here we attack the points, we are not defending the city.
Short version, if you have no time to read
- 13:00 Moscow time, 30 minutes. In advance: a "+" in chat and every march and rally ready.
- 10 yellow points + 1 red boss, up to 15 waves.
- The first 5 minutes are coordination; the Militarist gives out the coordinates of the circles and assigns who covers which.
- Personal attacks, no gathering, 30-second march from anywhere, no teleports needed.
- The boss goes to the strongest player, everyone else works the yellow ones in groups.
- Troops do not die — send everything, hold nothing back.
- The prizes are shared: help, do not compete. If you missed a circle and somebody else killed the monster, that is good news, not an insult.
- Turnout matters more than anything else: 13:00 is an awkward hour for many, but the more of us show up, the further we get.
- It will be a mess — that is normal, it is a mess for everyone the first several (many) times.
